Sock Emergency Workshop with Angela
Join us for a beginner-friendly sock knitting workshop where you will be able to come and seek help for that sock emergency that you might be stuck on, or ask questions about a new technique. Perfect for those new to the world of sock knitting or those of you who are interested in refining your sock knitting skills. This class will provide hands-on guidance and foundational skills you'll need to take the mystery out of knitting your current sock project.
Class Highlights:

Introduction to Materials: Review the Anatomy of a sock, discuss ways to make knitting socks as smooth as possible. Review types of yarn suitable for socks, and other essential tools.

Anatomy of a Sock: Familiarize yourself with the terms, heel flap, heel turn and gusset.

Reading a Sock Pattern: Break down a heel flap and gusset to understand its structure and instructions.

Heel Techniques: Dive into the intricacies of crafting a heel, from the end of the leg to the beginning of the foot.

Tips and Troubleshooting: Discuss common challenges faced by beginners and learn practical tips to overcome them. We will also discuss the different types of heels.
By the end of this class, participants will have a solid understanding of the sock knitting process, and with a bit of practice, you will be knitting socks confidently. Hopefully, all participants will be able to have all their sock emergencies solved. Whether you're knitting for yourself or as a heartfelt gift, this class will set you on a path to creating beautiful wearable art that fits comfortably.
Materials to bring with you to the workshop:

If you are knitting to a pattern, please bring in your pattern for assistance in answering questions.

Sock: a started sock. Fingering weight sock yarn for the heel. You can use leftovers of mini skeins if you wish for a contrast heel.

Needles: appropriate for your yarn, if you are a tight knitter, I recommend US 2, otherwise US1. Participants can choose Magic Loop, DPNs, Or 9” circulars. Please note: If using 9” circulars, you may want to have a second 9” or 12” circular to knit your heel.
