Meet the Blending Board!

Meet the blending board! This fiber processing tool is used to blend various fibers together to create rolags or batts for spinning. In this workshop you’ll learn the basics of how to “paint” with fiber onto the board and then roll it off into rolags or batts, as well as tips & techniques for blending different types of fibers & colors. All materials are included in the class cost, including use of a blending board - if you like it you’ll get the chance to purchase your board at the end of the workshop for a special price! This class is offered as in-person only.

Note: In this class you will produce blended fibers suitable for the advanced beginner/intermediate spinner. No hands-on spinning instruction will be given during the class.

What you will learn:

• Basics of using a blending board

• How to layer and “paint” with various fibers & colors

• How to roll fiber off the board into rolags and batts

• Quick demo of how to spin rolags & batts you create with the blending board (no actual spinning time in class)

• Use of blending board, brush, dowels

• Assorted fibers

Materials to bring with you to class:

• Notebook & pen (if you like to take notes)

• Any extra spinning fiber you would like to try out on the blending board: combed top, carded fiber, locks, sparkle, whatever you may have in your stash!
