Rigid Heddle 102: Clasped Weft with Keyser

Are you ready to move beyond plain weave? 
Are you itching to play with colors and create some free form patterns?
Then Clasped Weft will be for you! Learn how to use two different colors
in each pick of your weaving to create amazing and interesting patterns.

What you will learn:

* Hemstitching and when to use it.
* How to clasp weft picks and maintain tidy edges.
* How to create your own designs using the clasped weft method.
* Review fringe options.

Skills you already need to have:

-You need to have basic rigid heddle weaving knowledge, including how to warp
-Perfect next step if you've taken our Beginning Rigid Heddle Weaving class!

Materials needed for class:

-Rigid heddle loom with heddle appropriate for worsted weight yarn.

*HOMEWORK *
     You must prewarp your loom for this class. Using your lightest solid color of worsted weight or DK yarn on a 7.5/8 dent heddle - warp for a 10" wide piece. Your warp needs to be 8' long. If you have any questions or need any help please reach out to Keyser at the shop.

NOTE: If you come to class and your loom is not warped you will be asked to schedule a private lesson as Keyser will not be able to take class time to warp your loom.

(Looms are available for rent from Dances With Wool for additional $35 fee - credit card information and signed rental contract required and MUST be completed at the shop BEFORE the first class)

-Yarn for warp and weft: (3) 100g skeins of three different colors of Worsted weight or DK yarn

Recommended: 1 skein variegated yarn, 1 skein high contrast (DARK) solid color yarn, 1 skein low contrast (LIGHT) solid yarn (* please ask at the shop if you need help choosing your yarn)

-Fabric scissors
-Tape measure
-Craft paper or cut paper grocery bags for warp separation
