In this class we will make a set of cotton tea towels with a simple but beautiful pattern. We will also go over hemstitching and tips for sewing your woven fabrics.
This class is an intermediate level - you need to already be familiar with the basics of using a rigid heddle loom, warping, and plain weave. Weaving time outside of class will be required!
Students will learn:
How to plan a weaving with multple projects
How to separate multiple weavings on the same warp
How to hemstitch your weaving ends
How to finish off a weaving with no fringe
-Yarn for warp and weft: Worsted Cotton - 486 yards 1st color, 76 yards 2nd color
Recommended: 2 cones Gist Mallo Yarn (2 colors - 1 light, 1 dark)
- Rigid heddle loom with 8 dent heddle *Looms are available to rent for additional cost*
- Fabric strips or cardstock strips for buffer
- Fabric scissors or snips
- Tape measure
- 2 flat shuttles (depending on how many colors of yarn you want)
