Laterano Scarf with Ute

Mosaic colorwork is knitted with one color at a time and slipping stitches in the other color to form the design.  This scarf features diagonal bands of mosaic colorwork between Latvian braids, interspersed with bands of garter stitch. The pattern is fully charted with written instructions requiring no prior knowledge.  This is a good opportunity to learn or practice reading charts.  The scarf is inspired by Cosmatesque mosaics decorating the columns in the cloisters of the Basilica of San Giovanni Laterano in Rome.

Kits from the Border Mill in Scotland are available in the shop and not included in the class fee.
