Knitting 102: My First Cabled Cowl with Pam IN PERSON

Come join the fun and learn just how easy it is to knit cables! 

While creating this cowl, you will learn basic cable techniques, as well as a lovely textured stitch called the Star Stitch. Both of these techniques are surprisingly easy to achieve.

The original inspiration for this textured design was the gorgeous blend of colors in a skein of Malabrigo Rios Piedras. The colors reminded the designer of the many flavors of chai tea, so she chose a variety of stitches to represent the mix of flavors. You can complete the cowl with a single skein of Malabrigo Rios in any colorway, or substitute a solid color or heathered worsted-weight yarn for a more subtle effect.

  • Pattern -  Spiced Chai Cowl by Kate Nash (available on Ravelry)

  • Yarn -  200-250 yds Worsted Weight (shop sample made with 1 skein Malabrigo Rios)

  • Needles

    • US 6 (4.0mm) and US 8 (5mm)  24” circular needles

  • Stitch marker

  • Cable needle
