Technique Class: Mosaic Crochet with Ute

This class is available virtual via Zoom and in person.  Please indicate your preference in the notes.  Ute will send out Zoom information prior to first class.

Mosaic crochet is a method of crocheting that gives your work a look that resembles a tapestry, only
using one color at a time. This technique looks difficult, but in reality is not. You only need to know
how to chain, single and double crochet. We will learn this technique by creating a sample swatch
using the Apache Tears pattern. The pattern will be provided. Upon completion of the swatch, we
will learn how to create a double sided border, which will allow us to hide all the ends.

Skills you will learn:

  • Mosaic crochet technique

  • Reading a chart

Materials needed before the first class:
  • contrasting colors, about 50 g or less of DK or worsted weight yarn.  I recommend lighter colors so you can see better.
  • corresponding hook for either DK or Worsted Weight

Scissors, interlocking stitch marker
